Tailings Basins

    • Stakeholder engagement and development of an air pollution control strategy for the Navajo Generating Station at Page, Arizona – for Salt River Project.
    • Research and drafting of an amended ordinance for alternative energy production (including utility-scale wind and solar) and review of Dry Lake Phase II Wind Facility permit for Navajo County, AZ.
    • Air quality permit review for a proposed coal to gasoline facility in Mingo County, WV.
    • Engineering, geotechnical (pore pressure cells, piezometers & inclinometers) monitoring, field testing (vane shear) and short- and long-term construction planning in support of operation, closure and reclamation of 160-ft-high, 600-acre, tailings basins with a total of 8 miles of perimeter dikes founded on organic soils.
    • Emissions testing, atmospheric dispersion analyses, air quality monitoring studies, and inhalation risk assessments at ABS manufacturing facilities in Ottawa, Illinois, Cobourg, Ontario, Washington, West Virginia and Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.
    • Design, development and RCRA permitting of a hazardous waste treatment and landfill system for Northwestern Steel and Wire Co.
    • Cost allocation determinations for PRPs at Superfund sites in Colorado, Illinois, Ohio and Texas.
    • Site assessment, soil contaminant remediation and RCRA closure of Morgantown Glass for Morgantown Energy Assoc., Morgantown, W.Va.
    • Review and monitoring of emissions controls at a hazardous waste processing complex in Dayton, Ohio pursuant to settlement agreement.
    • Air quality permit application planning and preparation, including Prevention of Significant Deterioration, for coal-fired steam generation facility in Morgantown, WV, for Morgantown Energy Associates.
    • Air pollution engineering and consultation to the Franklin County (Ohio) Court of Common Pleas for reconstruction, operations and maintenance of Georgia Pacific Resins, Columbus, Ohio.
    • Review of air pollution permit application from a Portland cement manufacturer in Berkeley County West Virginia for Carpenter Environmental Associates.
    • Regulatory and requirements review for APS dams and impoundments at Cholla and Four Corners power plants.
